Loving Others Ministries

As Christians, we are called to live as Christ lived. In Isaiah chapter 42, Jesus Christ is described as a servant king. Mark said of Christ that he came not to be served but to serve (Mark 10:45). Loving Others Ministries is the merciful outreach ministry of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Plano, TX, a grace-oriented, Bible-believing church that is dedicated to our mission of Loving God and Loving Others.

The vision of Loving Others Ministries is to bring Gospel-powered spiritual, personal, social, and economic restoration to the poor, marginalized and overlooked of our community by loving others through acts of mercy that demonstrate the love of Christ.

Dedicated to restoration and rehabilitation to the body of Christ and our surrounding community, Loving Others Ministries supports numerous internal ministries, and partners with other community-based philanthropic agencies that can act as an extension of our mercy ministry activities.

Loving Others Ministries is not only dedicated to addressing the needs of our community, but also to empowering our church body to live out acts of mercy in their own lives. Our desire is to help you find ways to become more involved in sharing the mercy and love of Jesus Christ to others through your own personal sacrifice of time and talent. Our desire is that you experience the joy of Christ in serving others as He Himself came to serve.
“Let us not love in word and talk but in deed and truth.” I John 3:18

Please take a moment to read about our mercy ministry partners.  We are confident that the Lord will lead you to the place where He desires you to serve.

Realizing True Hope Ministries
As the body of Christ, we are called to minister to the broken and hurting, and we have the opportunity to reach a population of adult women who have survived childhood abuse through Realizing True Hope Ministries. More than 2 million children are abused in the US every year. Tragically, many of those children grow into adulthood carrying the unhealed wounds of their abuse, and although many of them have received the free gift of salvation, they don’t experience the life abundant that Christ offers His called children. Realizing True Hope Ministries offers the healing and hope promised in the Gospel of Christ to abused women in North Texas.

Betty Hanks, a survivor of years of childhood abuse, leads the ministry, supported by Denise Wichlan. This ministry is dedicated to providing a safe environment for true healing based upon the promises of God’s Word and the love of others who have experienced at some level the pain, hurt, and even shame you feel. The goals of Realizing True Hope Ministries are to help women understand 1) they are not alone; 2) there is healing for those wounds that are hidden deep inside; 3) the hope of the joyful life Christ offers is available to them.

Issues are dealt with confidentially, and the utmost care is taken to provide safety and respect. If you have any questions, or if you would like more information, please contact the ministry leader Betty Hanks at 214.548.9199 or by e-mail at bhanks [at] realizingtruehope [dot] com.

Children’s Hospital Ministry
From the playground behind Trinity Presbyterian Church, a ministry was born. Children’s Medical Center rose from the fields off of Preston Road and it was difficult to miss the contrast between a playground and a hospital for children. The call to ministry supporting the children, families, and staff at Children’s Hospital was embraced by members of the Trinity Presbyterian Church family. With volunteers and nurses working at Children’s, the impact of the work of the Lord is being felt.

Comfort is provided to families of sick children, prayers are offered for healing, books are read to patients coupled with friendly smiles, warm greetings and thoughtful care. As a congregation, participation comes from the provision of prayers, children’s clothing, books, and games. You too can participate in this meaningful ministry by contacting the ministry leaders and liaisons, Chuck and Gretchen Rehlin with your desire to volunteer. Widow/Single Women’s Ministry
The Widow/Single Women’s Ministry is currently an internal ministry offered to widows and single women of Trinity Presbyterian Church. It is birthed out of the Biblical mandate throughout Scripture to care for the needs of widows. There are two components to this ministry. The first is a widow’s group that meets to fellowship, share, and support one another through the development of close, personal relationships with other widows. The second component of this ministry is a practical meeting of the physical needs of widows and single women in regards to their homes and automobiles. Financial counseling is also provided upon request.

These two components serve to meet the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of the widows and single women of our congregation. It is our desire, however, that at some point this ministry will be expanded to the community in which God has placed our church. James 1:27 states, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”

We are given the command in I Timothy 5:3 that states, “Honor widows who are truly widows.” This ministry strives to serve that purpose, showing the love of Christ to those who have lost their husband or who need assistance in the care of their homes and property. If you are interested in serving in this worthy ministry, contact the ministry leaders Paula McCoy at 972.971.1517 or paulamccoy2008 [at] gmail [dot] com; or Mike Bottoms at 469.387.5689 or mikencami [at] msn [dot] com for more information about opportunities to serve our widows.
